On most networks the activation completes inside 60 seconds. Stuck activations usually mean your phone hasn't found the right partner network. Manually select the network from Settings → Cellular → Network Selection. If it still fails, remove and reinstall the eSIM.

Probably not — even though the eSIM hardware is there, a carrier lock blocks foreign profiles. Ask your carrier to unlock it (free once your contract is paid off).
