No data after installing the eSIM — five fixes to try

The single most common issue. Most cases resolve in under 5 minutes by going through this list in order.

2 min read

If you've installed the eSIM, you're in the destination country, but no data is flowing — try these in order. 90% of cases resolve at step 3 or sooner.

Step 1 — Confirm the eSIM is on AND set as Cellular Data

  • iPhone: Settings → Cellular. Is the travel eSIM toggled ON? Is "Cellular Data" pointing at it?
  • Android: Settings → SIMs. Is "Use SIM" ON for the travel eSIM? Is "Mobile data" set to that SIM?

Step 2 — Turn data roaming ON for the travel eSIM

  • Even though we don't "roam" you in the traditional sense, your phone considers any non-home network as roaming. Turn it on for the travel profile.
  • iPhone: Settings → Cellular → tap profile → Data Roaming ON.
  • Android: Settings → SIMs → tap profile → Roaming ON.

Step 3 — Toggle airplane mode for 30 seconds

  • Airplane mode → wait 30 seconds → off.
  • This forces the phone to re-scan and pick a network from scratch.

Step 4 — Manually pick a network

  • iPhone: Settings → Cellular → tap profile → Network Selection → Automatic OFF → pick the partner network from the list (we list the partner names on each country hub page).
  • Android: Settings → SIMs → tap profile → "Choose network" → select manually.

Step 5 — Check the APN

  • iPhone: usually auto. If not, Settings → Cellular → tap profile → Cellular Data Network → APN: internet (or as listed on your country hub page).
  • Android: Settings → SIMs → Access Point Names → tap the partner APN.

If none of those work

  • Open the "No data after install" wizard on our support page. It walks the same steps with diagnostic prompts and can issue a replacement eSIM if the install itself is corrupt.
  • Or just write to support — include your order number and we'll usually have you working in under 15 minutes.
